CUOMO WARNS MEDIA ON SENSITIVITY SAYS COURT COULD LIMIT FREEDOM.(Local)

Gov. Mario M. Cuomo - who has had some unkind things to say about the press who covered him during his re-election campaign - offered some more advice to the media Thursday when he told a hall full of newspaper executives, "Don't be so thin-skinned."

The governor said the press should be more willing to accept criticism from those it covers and warned that if the press did not regulate itself it could find its freedoms taken away through Supreme Court rulings.

"If once in a while a politician goes crazy and says, 'I think you're imperfect,' I don't think the media should suddenly get up in arms and take this as a challenge to the First Amendment," Cuomo said. "I think maybe what they should do is (say), 'I wonder if that story is inaccurate? I …
